About This Programme

A two-day national workshop examining carbon sequestration in agricultural soils, climate-smart farming practices, carbon credit mechanisms, and policy frameworks. Features presentations from researchers, policymakers, and field practitioners.

Carbon farming is fast emerging as one of the most promising strategies for sustainable agriculture, simultaneously improving soil health, enhancing crop productivity, and contributing to climate change mitigation. This national-level workshop brings together leading researchers, progressive farmers, policy architects, and development practitioners to exchange knowledge, explore the current state of carbon farming in India, and chart a pathway for scaling up.

Key Themes

Sessions will cover: soil organic carbon measurement & monitoring, biochar application for carbon storage, agroforestry for carbon sequestration, carbon credit mechanisms (Verra, Gold Standard), policy and regulatory landscape, and case studies of successful carbon farming projects from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.
